Is APFA in general, and APFA President John Ward in particular, really doing everything (t)he(y) can to save our jobs?
This is the place to find out what's really going on with the APFA. We are APFA dues-paying members who are trying to find the answers to the realities that we are being forced to deal with. For fear of being scruitinized by AA or even the APFA, we are forced to keep our identities private. Our concerns are these. Primarily:
162 currently active flight attendants NOT based in STL/ISL will be junior to former TWA now that they've been trained on our aircraft. The seniority lists will merge on October 1, 2002. This scenario puts us at the bottom of the seniority list below TWA (even though we thought THEY were at the bottom of the seniority list - at least that's what our APFA Rep told us during initial training). The furlough is effective October 13, 2002 and not only are we going out a second time, but we don't know if we'll ever come back!
American Airlines currently has about 1600 APFA members furloughed - 800 original AA Flight Attendants and about the same number of TWA Flight Attendants... (click here for the full story)
